We have a fantastic opportunity to join our exceptional Engineering and Motor Vehicle department as a Careers Coach.
As a Careers Coach you will deliver both group and 1 to 1 tutorial sessions to develop our students as well-informed, socially cohesive, resilient and purposeful young adults and aid them in the transition from education to the world of work.
Responsibilities include:
Delivery of tutorial sessions, both group and individual, to develop our students as well-informed, socially cohesive, resilient and purposeful young adults – ready to enter adulthood and the world of work
Develop resources within a framework of core topics that enable you to deliver engaging, relevant and inspiring tutorial sessions
To work collaboratively with the teaching team to make links between your sessions and the students’ vocational studies
To support students in gaining work experience/placement opportunities through delivery of typical tutorial topics and employer/parent/carer partnership
To be responsible for student’s academic progress, wellbeing, behaviour management and careers and pastoral guidance throughout their learning journey
To monitor, intervene and action plan improvements to students attendance and engagement on their whole study programme
To seek out and respond to the student voice – seeing students as primary stakeholders in their learning
To carry out reviews of progress in learning, target setting, one-to-one tutorials and contribute towards carer and parent reports/events
To help students develop positive behaviours and employability skills
To participate actively in the enrolment of students and events related to recruitment
To treat students as individuals and develop/contribute to personalised learning plans that drive their progress in learning, scaffold them to meet and exceed their targets and enable them to reach their career goals
To help manage students on placements, offsite visits and related activities
To model our expected behaviours, and act as a professional advocate for our students, our college values and the departmental ethos.
To be a stakeholder in the development and promotion of positive behaviours in all students in Construction and Engineering, including the implementation and promotion of regulations, policies and procedures.
To undertake additional duties that may be required commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post.
To enthusiastically undertake professional development and training that will support you to be more effective in your role

Education & Training
GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
Minimum level 2 qualification in a relevant subject area.
Experience
Knowledge and experience of CEIAG delivery in an Education setting
A strong understanding of the careers and employability agenda in relation to Further Education
Demonstrable experience of delivery of group workshops
Experience of developing careers and employability curriculum resources.
Evidence of supporting clients to achieve successful outcomes.
