The DFE Apprentice is an exciting role within our DFE team and would be a great opportunity for someone wanting to kickstart a career in Information Management.
The DFE Apprentice will work closely with the DFE Officers to ensure accurate and timely planning, processing of data and administrative tasks relating to Exams/Registrations, Audit, ILR and timetabling, gaining invaluable experience in Management Information Systems (MIS).
As this is an apprenticeship, the role will consist of 4 days of on-the-job training and one day of classroom-based learning per week.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Examinations team to ensure entry deadlines are met and exam arrangements are accounted for, for awarding bodies as specified by the DFE Officers.
- Providing support with enrolment enquiries and to provide high levels of customer service.
- Ensuring Examination invoices are accurate and processed in a timely manner.
- Providing effective administrative support for the day-to-day running of enrolment registration/examination and timetabling.
- Liaising with the departmental MIS assistants to ensure data is accurate for monthly ILR returns and Audits.
- Responsible for paper and electronic information (some of which is confidential); computer and data processing equipment including the College network, office stationery and equipment.

Education & Training
- Evidence of high level of keyboard/ word processing skills with good working knowledge of Word, Excel and the use of the internet.
- 4-9 in Maths & English GCSE, or equivalent, or willingness to achieve within an agreed timescale
- Willingness to complete an Apprenticeship in Business Administration Level 3 within an agreed timescale
- Level 2 Business Administration is desirable but not essential
Experience
- Excellent IT Skills including good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
- Experience of working with a computerised record system is desirable but not essential
