We have an excellent opportunity to join our fantastic IT and Audio Visual department as an Audio Visual Technician.

This is an integral role within the department and the college as a whole as it underpins the academic objectives of the institution through support for learning and teaching, achieved through the delivery of effective, efficient and learner-oriented services.

Alongside technical specialists you will integrate existing and emerging IT and Audio-Visual resources into all aspects of supporting Staff and Students. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as the first line customer support for students for all IT and AV issues, ensuring that they the key focus.  Work closely with the wider IT services team to deliver student focussed services 

  • To provide, coordinate and manage systems for the booking of IT, AV and advanced technologies equipment within the college

  • To carry out checking and testing of equipment pre and post-loan to ensure that it is in good working order, flagging any items that need repair or replacement

  • Lead and manage the provision of the learning resources broadcast system and Digital Media and Digital signage (eStream), ensuring compliance with relevant licencing, including backup and maintenance of systems

  • Manage and project plan all AV and Specialist Technical requirements for events across college, to coordinate and assist in the operation, setting up and movement of equipment as required across all college sites and external venues as required

  • To provide training and specialist advice to students and staff in the usage of IT, AV and specialist equipment

Education & Training

  • GCSE 9 - 4 or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths and English or equivalent (E.g. GCSE A*-C, CSE 1, O-Level A-C)

  • IT related qualification or equivalent recent experience

Experience 

  • Experience with a wide range of AV equipment including still and video cameras, sound equipment and display technologies

  • Experience providing front line support directly to users of AV and technology

  • Recent experience and in-depth knowledge of PC support, including both MS Office applications and desktop operating systems.
