Due to department growth, we have an exciting new role for **a Curriculum Team Leader –Entry Level 3 Vocational **to join our Progression to Learning & Work Department.

 

This is a key role in the development and management of the College’s curriculum areas.  Curriculum Team Leaders are responsible for all operational matters in the linked areas of the curriculum that are assigned to them.  Your role as Curriculum Team Leader is to support them.

 

You will ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of learners with SEND, High Needs and EHCPs. You will also ensure that our curriculum has strong links with and services local businesses, our feeder schools and the wider community. You will work with the Curriculum Manager and head of department to ensure that learners receive a high-quality, outstanding learner experience.  You will provide inspirational leadership for staff and students.

Responsibilities include:

  • To be responsible for managing the performance of courses in the curriculum area of Foundation learning, specifically in the areas of student enrolment, retention and achievement targets; quality of teaching and learning; observations, appraisal and staff development; student satisfaction and equality and diversity targets.
  • To ensure appropriate records, registers, staff and student timetables are maintained and available as required by internal management information systems and external audit regimes.
  • To ensure that systems are in place to ensure that effective Initial Advice and Guidance take place and that all programme MIS data is interrogated to support the achievement of intended outcomes.
  • To be responsible for the overall management of the curriculum team.
  • To undertake teaching at a level agreed with the Curriculum Area Manager.
  • To be responsible for the business development and recruitment in the curriculum areas.
  • To ensure effective management of the curriculums’ physical resources.
  • To maintain a safe and secure learning environment by ensuring regular risk assessments are undertaken.
  • To contribute to the collegial culture, mission and strategic objectives and to work with colleagues in other curriculum and service areas across the College.
  • To support the Curriculum Area Manager in the planning, innovation, design and development of curriculum programmes and cross College marketing activities.
  • To promote excellent teaching and effective learning across the curriculum area, and to disseminate and share good practice across the College.

Education & Training

  • A relevant degree or appropriate professional qualification with a SEND specialism.
  • A relevant teaching qualification or working towards a SEND specialism
  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

 

Experience

  • Highly experienced in managing curriculum delivery within the Further Education sector, specifically within a Foundation Learning department or similar
  • Experience in course development and recruitment for students on Foundation Learning programs from pre-entry to Level 1
  • Extensive experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures for students with SEND/EHCP/HN on Foundation Learning courses.
  • Experience in the interpretation of data sets to inform and enable performance management.
  • Experience working with employers and community partners in setting up external activities for students with SEND
  • Experience in developing a strong employment pathway for students working towards supported internships.
