Due to departmental expansion, we are looking for an Estates Advisor (Hard Services) to join our Facilities & Estates team.

 

Reporting to the Estates Manager (Hard Services), this role supports the management of reactive, planned maintenance, statutory compliance and upgrade works for all college properties.  Working with the Estates Manager you will have a focus on the physical assets, ensuring the buildings, fabric, plant, equipment and internal space are well maintained with appropriate planned and reactive works carried out in a timely and cost-effective manner, per health and safety compliance requirements, the College’s policies and procedures, and all relevant statutory obligations.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Deputising for the Estates Manager (Hard Services) as and when required in a range of estates-related activities
  • To deliver a flexible, multi-skilled service that can respond to a range of core business priorities and can respond to building, electrical and mechanical out-of-hours emergencies
  • Support the delivery of a safe compliant estate through a planned maintenance model ensuring a timely effective response is delivered to reactive tasks
  • Visit buildings as appropriate to carry out interim and final checks on work in progress and completed work to ensure specifications, standards and instructions have been adhered to
  • To maintain and update the Estate’s building layout plans and electrical/mechanical schematic drawings
  • Provide a supportive role to the Estates Manager, building on technical knowledge and experience of the Hard Estate and effectively project manage contracted works from third parties
  • To obtain quotations and complete pro-forma orders for materials and equipment as per College financial regulations
  • Tracks and reports on the departmental budget to Estates Manager

Education & Training

  • Degree or equivalent level of work experience in a relevant role
  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

 

Experience

  • Experience in property and facilities management; particularly statutory requirements

OR

  • Experience in service contract management and the ability to negotiate best value for the organisation
