We have an excellent opportunity to join our committed and knowledgeable IT & Audio Visual department as an IT Core Systems Specialist.
Reporting to the IT Core Systems Manager, you will undertake the installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, development, backup and securing of the college’s server infrastructure. This includes but is not limited to: - Data Centre's, Microsoft Cloud based Services, Server Infrastructure, storage systems, communications systems and software.
Responsibilities include:
Assist with the administration, design, development and support of the college server infrastructure systems, both on-premise, hosted and cloud.
Work to IT Security best practice and ensure IT Compliance to industry standards. Working with auditors as required to provide evidence to support compliance claims. To ensure that the infrastructure is regularly tested and monitored for security concerns.
Ensure that the college infrastructure is documented and changes are managed via an agreed process.
Resolve Third Line support calls that occur whether that be on premise or in the cloud and providing support, guidance and mentoring to first line and second line teams.
Manage the college’s Server infrastructure and Data Centre as part of the IT core systems team.
Assist in the management of college systems which come under the remit of the IT Core systems dept. (e.g., Security devices and services, Identity management and other network services.
Support college remote access ensuring user, system and data security.
Monitors traffic patterns and resource usage assisting the team to be proactive and ahead in terms of provision and capacity planning.
Monitor environmental parameters and put practices in place to negate failure of such systems.

Education & Training
Educated to degree level in an IT related subject or equivalent relevant experience.
Microsoft MCSE or VMware DCV qualification or equivalent relevant experience
GCSE 5 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
GCSE 5 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
Experience
In-depth experience with a range of technologies including Active Directory, VMWare, Windows Server SCCM.
Enterprise Level Data Centre Experience and working knowledge including Disaster Recovery and Backup Systems.
Experience and working knowledge of Modern Windows Server 2016+ platforms and associated services.
Experience of installing, configuring and managing VMware ESX server platforms.
Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Manager, supporting Microsoft Azure services and Office 365 related technologies such as Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Azure Active Directory and Azure Enterprise Applications that suitably reflects the structure, security and business interrelationships of an operationally complex organization.
