We have a fantastic opportunity join our Progression to Learning and Work department as a Lecturer working across our Foundation Learning and Entry Provision.
The focus of this role is to teach learners with High Needs, EHCPs, SEND and SEMH to develop key personal, employability and social skills and to support them in achieving their Preparing for Adulthood outcomes.
Our learners have diverse needs and range from Entry 1 to Entry level 3 in their numeracy, communication and social development. Learning takes place in the classroom, the community and in our independent living flat.
By delivering inclusive, engaging and creative lessons you will develop positive behaviours and attitudes that will build confidence in learners' ability to progress into employment and independent living.
Responsibilities include:
To design and deliver a wide range of effective and inclusive teaching and learning activities for students with High Needs, EHCPs, SEND & SEMH.
To assess the work and progress of all students and provide them with constructive and timely feedback.
To maintain accurate records regarding student progress towards EHCP targets using Evidence for Learning and/or other college data systems.
To seek ways of improving student performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback.
To develop and apply innovative approaches to improving the learning environment, teaching and/or assessment and feedback methods.
Engage in professional development relating to teaching, learning and assessment, including the use of an evidence-informed approach, which utilises the outcomes of scholarship to enhance teaching practice.
Contribute to course development and the development of new programmes of study demonstrating an inclusive and collaborative approach to delivery.
Contribute to outreach and/or widening participation activity within the Department/ School.
Produce Plans of learning, lesson plans, assessment plans, varied learning materials and any other related activities that positively impact the effectiveness of learning.
Maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students’ learning carried out.
Plan, deliver and assess high-quality teaching and associated activities on courses and programmes as specified by the Curriculum Manager/Department.
Work pro-actively to forward the success and vision of the department.
To be responsible for the supervision and leadership of an outstanding student experience on campus including monitoring attendance, progress and retention.
To act as an academic and pastoral tutor as specified by the Curriculum Manager/Department.

Education & Training
GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
Degree or Level 6 professional qualification
A recognised teaching qualification (PCET, PGCE)
Thrive and/or Trauma Informed training
Experience
Experience of successful teaching/training and the evidence of performance /data to support it (e.g. lesson observations, retention and achievement data), high-grade successes)
Experience in high-quality teaching within an FE, special school or secondary school environment.
Experience in improving the learning environment, teaching and/or assessment and feedback methods
Experience teaching and giving pastoral support to students with SEMH; including de-escalation techniques and behaviour management
