We are delighted to present an exciting opportunity to join us here at Bradford College as an Assistant Principal. Working alongside the CEO and Executive team, the focus of this role will be to ensure the delivery of a curriculum that meets the current and future needs of students, employers and the wider community.

The successful candidate will provide line management to Curriculum Heads of Department and have specific strategic responsibilities related to curriculum planning and stakeholder engagement.

The post holder will not be part of the Senior Leadership Team but may be invited to attend SLT meetings, Performance Review meetings and Business Planning meetings in an advisory capacity.

Responsibilities include:

  • To provide guidance and direction to the Heads of Department with the building, content and presentation of a Departments Business Plan as appropriate

  • To provide guidance and direction to the Heads of Department in relation to the implementation of the College curriculum strategy

  • To support the delivery of key college cross projects that will enhance and lead to an outstanding curriculum offer

  • To develop and lead relationships with key external partners related to the implementation of the curriculum strategy

  • To provide guidance and direction to the Heads of Department in relation to departmental delivery of agreed KPIs.

  • To support the delivery of key college cross projects that will enhance and lead to an outstanding student experience.

  • To advise on key data sets that will support and inform both Executive and Heads of Department of progress toward outstanding

  • To advise on how best capital and revenue is spent to ensure we maximise the student experience and student outcomes

  • Leads on the implementation of the College’s Curriculum Strategy specifically for Skills

  • Supports the Heads of Curriculum with the implementation of the timetabling and induction policy

  • To lead on special projects as required and agreed by the Senior Leadership Team

Education & Training

  • A PGCE in PCET or equivalent

  • A BA/BSc or BEng Degree at Level 6

  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

Experience

  • Experience of working at a Head of Department level in an FE educational setting.

  • Experience of coaching and mentoring middle and first line managers.

  • Experience of leading institution change

  • Experience of leading curriculum change

  • Experience of delivering an outstanding curriculum

  • Experience of creating outstanding learning environments

  • Experience of leading cross college projects

  • Experience of stakeholder engagement

  • An understanding of curriculum reforms affecting Further & Higher Education

  • Experience of Stakeholder engagement (employer, civic and community)
