Due to internal progression, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our well-established Student Services Department, in the Student Funding team. The Student Funding team provides Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) on the full range of student support services available to students, both internally and externally and how to access them.

Working closely with your colleagues in this small, friendly team, you will support FE students with their applications for bursaries, bus passes and course related costs. You will assist students in completing their applications, with patience and understanding, ensuring they provide the correct evidence to progress their applications expediently to ensure students have the support they need to succeed at Bradford College. You will need to be an excellent communicator, professional and assertive to ensure student experience is central to key processes. You will be required to keep accurate and auditable records of all Information and Advice activity.

Full training will be given to the successful applicant, with ongoing mentoring from an experienced manager as well as opportunities to develop your career through our Learning & Development team.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in administration with keen attention to detail, and customer service in a busy environment. It is imperative that you are able to communicate and behave with sensitivity, empathy and respect.

Responsibilities include:

  • To provide face-to-face, online and telephone support with general information and advice for clients across the college sites as required, including triage of student funding across different campus buildings
  • To assist students and potential students to access relevant information, advice and support to ensure an outstanding student experience.
  • To understand the rules and regulations relating to the various bursary funds administered by the College, and advise students of their entitlements and potential sources of funding.
  • To process applications for any funding administered by the College.
  • Making decisions about the eligibility of students and their awards/payments in line with College and funding body regulations
  • To answer queries relating to pending funding applications, payments, attendance and cancelled payments ensuring data protection regulations are followed at all times.

Education & Training

 

*       A minimum of a level 3 qualification, e.g. A-Levels, BTEC Level 3 Diploma or Certificate or an NVQ3. Except for A-levels these should be in a relevant occupational area.

*       GCSE A*- C or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A – C) or prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale.

Experience

 

*     Experience in an administrative role.

*      Experience of delivering high standards of customer service in a pressured environment

*      Experience of giving information and advice to a wide range of people.

*      Experience of assessing information against set criteria.

*      Experience of using spreadsheets and databases.
