We have a fantastic opportunity to join our exceptional Student Support Development department as a Student Funding Team Leader

This is an integral role within the department as the Student Funding Team Leader is responsible for managing the effective and efficient delivery of all aspects of student funding, including administrative processes relating to bursaries, tuition fees and student loans across both FE and HE

Responsibilities include:

  • To lead the Student Funding team, supervising, and directing the team’s work to accurately maintain a variety of records in the central student database and student payment system within designated deadlines

  • Manage and motivate a team of student funding officers and student funding specialist to deliver high-quality service and to develop staff in their individual roles

  • To be responsible for the operational service delivery of the Student Funding team, ensuring that all aspects of the team’s work are planned and delivered to agreed time scales

  • Complete and report on regular audits to ensure all internal processes and procedures are being adhered to

  • Monitor and report on team performance metrics

  • To maintain and develop operational processes owned by the team to ensure the service continues to meet evolving demands

  • Oversee the assessment processes for all bursary and loan eligibility in line with Bradford College policies and procedures, Office for Students’ requirements, and eligibility criteria set out in the Access and Participation Plan

  • Lead on financial reconciliations, ensuring compliance with the requirements of the relevant external agencies

  • Responsible for the continuous review and improvement of procedures and processes for all aspects of student funding procedures in line with Bradford College objectives, statutory requirements, and sector good practice

  • To ensure the Student Funding team complies with quality assurance procedures and internal and external regulations

Education & Training

  • Hold a minimum of Level 3 qualification

  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale 

Experience

  • Experience of student funding processes and policies

  • Knowledge and experience of Student Finance England regulations and processes

  • Experience of planning, prioritising and organising team tasks and staff to meet deadlines and service deliverables

  • Experience of managing an operational team with a flexible approach to delivering team results.

  • Experience of using information technology to manage large data sets and meet deadlines

  • Supervisory or first-line management experience

  • Experience of working with a diverse range of people

  • Experience of developing new processes and improving systems.
